Social media is set to stay and I believe, in all countries, we will continue to see a surge in uptake, particularly by small to medium sized business.
What I often see and work hard with clients to avoid, is confusion of the message and the “USP” of the business (unique selling point/position).
Essentially, know your target market and niche, recognise what will offer them the most value in terms of your business, expertise and their needs and then utilise social media to create a community, public relation and relationship marketing opportunities. Getting your brand right, including your “branding” (logo, style guides and other marketing related aspects) is critical in both positioning and promoting your business, well, in social media in 2010.
